Our Story
When Five Star Barber Salon & Spa was founded over eighteen years ago, it started with a simple vision: to own a business, gain financial independence, and practice a beloved skill. This journey has been a true test of resilience—a road filled with valuable lessons, unwavering loyalty, and hard-earned successes. We stand here today, experienced, battle-tested, and humbly grateful to every client, student, and team member who has walked this path with us. Five Star is more than a business; it’s a standard.
Meet The Founder
ATA Francois
A professional barber and founder of Five Star Barber Salon for the past eighteen (18) years. In that time, I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge and experience, which I’ve shared, as a tutor, to upcoming barbers throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
I’ve also been an active firefighter for the past seventeen (17) years in the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service. During those years, I’ve perfected my focus and discipline, which I’ve used to hone my craft as a professional barber. This has also led me to pursue continuous personal and professional development so that I’m always updating my skillset with the latest barbering technologies and industry practices.
My skill as a tutor was developed and refined during my tenure at the University of the West Indies Open Campus, where I taught over 150 students. This allowed me to master techniques and systems that will effectively teach any aspiring barber. I aim to equip all my students with the knowledge and tools to empower them on their barbering journey. As such, I’ve had the privilege of inspiring and motivating many youths to take up clippers as their choice of profession.
My vision is for Five Star Barbering Academy to be the leading institution for training and development in Trinidad and Tobago and the Eastern Caribbean.
Five Star Barber Accademy
Our commitment extends far beyond the chair. For years, our founder has actively shared knowledge as a tutor to upcoming barbers across Trinidad and Tobago. This skill as an educator was formally refined during tenure at the University of the West Indies Open Campus, where over 150 students were successfully taught.
This experience has allowed us to master techniques and effective teaching systems, inspiring and motivating many youths to choose barbering as their profession.
Our ultimate vision is clear: For the Five Star Barbering Academy to be the leading institution for training and development, empowering the next generation of professional barbers across Trinidad and Tobago and the entire Eastern Caribbean.
